Boost Comprehension is the brand-new reading comprehension scheme from Boost Primary. Built on the key recommendations of the Education Endowment Foundation’s Improving Literacy Guidance Report, Boost Comprehension enhances pupils’ fluency and ability to comprehend texts.

Boost Comprehension offers:

• 90 texts, including well-known texts and Boost Comprehension originals
• 30 texts per year group, with 3 fully resourced lessons for each text
• Guided oral reading instruction and repeated reading to improve fluency
• Input slides for teacher modelling of discrete skills
• Activities to facilitate the independent practice of skills
• Philosophy-based plenary questions to develop oracy skills
• A consistent approach to teaching reading across the whole of Second Level
• The sequencing and mapping of skills across Second Level
• Scottish curriculum coverage, including texts linking to Scottish culture, history and geography
• Texts that promote British values through spiritual, moral, social and cultural development
• Reduced teacher workload – everything is provided
